Our Team

Powell and Jones CPA staff is comprised of eight full-time auditors. Since we exclusively provide government and nonprofit audits, all of our audit professionals work year-round on a variety of government and nonprofit audits and pursue their required 40 hours of continuing education in these fields, including four hours in ethics.

PARTNER

Caleb Perla, CPA

Caleb received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and his Master’s degree in Accounting, both from Liberty University. He has eight years of nonprofit audit experience, five years of government audit experience, and five years of experience with Powell and Jones CPA. Caleb is a member of the Government Finance Officers Association, the American Institute of Public Accountants, the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Lake City-Columbia County Chamber of Commerce.

Brad Hough, CPA

Brad received his Bachelor’s degree in Banking and Finance from the University of Georgia and has taken upper division accounting courses at Georgia Southwestern State University. He has six years of nonprofit audit experience, six years of government audit experience, and four years of experience with Powell and Jones CPA. Brad is a member of the Government Finance Officers Association, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Michigan Association of CPAs.

CONSULTING PARTNER

Richard Powell, CPA

The founder of Powell and Jones CPA, Richard continues to serve as a consulting partner. He has over 30 years of nonprofit and government audit experience and over 40 years of experience with Powell and Jones CPA. Richard received his Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Florida State University, where he also took upper division accounting courses, and he completed professional development courses in local government accounting and auditing from the University of North Florida. Richard is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants - Committee on State & Local Government, and the Lake City/Columbia County Chamber of Commerce - Administrative Committee. In 2005, he was recognized as the Columbia County Business Person of the Year.

STAFF ACCOUNTANT

LINDA LAIRD, CPA

Linda received her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Rend Lake College and her Master’s degree in Legal Studies from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. She has four years of nonprofit audit experience, four years of government audit experience, four years of experience with Powell and Jones CPA, and over 30 years of governmental auditing experience. Linda is a member of the Illinois Certified Public Accountants Society.

SENIOR AUDITOR

KARL HARMON, MBA

Karl received both his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and his MBA with a focus on Accounting from St. Leo University. He has five years of nonprofit audit experience, five years of government audit experience, and five years of experience with Powell and Jones CPA.
